New Jersey Sen. Cory Booker announces run for president

Sen. Cory Booker of New Jersey made it official Friday morning that he’s a candidate for president in 2020, saying Americans “are better when we help each other.”
The announcement by the 49-year-old Democrat was not unexpected because he has been traveling throughout the country, including the early voting states, for several months speaking about issues and, last year, helping congressional candidates.
