Sen. Soucy’s course: Govt. integrity is at stake here

Incoming state Senate President Donna Soucy notes that half of the 24-member body have full-time jobs outside the State House. She happens to be one of them. Now that she is leader of the Senate, all eyes will follow any conflicts-of-interest that might arise.
One positive of our citizen Legislature is that its members aren’t in it for the salary. Given how much other “professional’’ legislatures pay themselves and how they perform, we think New Hampshire stacks up very well.
The fact that many legislators have to work for a living is a good thing. It keeps them grounded and in touch.
