Perhaps the dumbest idea of 2018 in New Hampshire politics was the failed attempt to turn the Secretary of State’s office into a partisan political machine. For one thing, it would have been an excuse to harm our first-in-the-nation presidential primary.
An early favorite for 2019 Dumbest Idea is related to last year’s winner. Let’s have a “presidential primary commission.”
State Rep. Rene Cushing, a Democrat from Hampton, says, “A permanent commission would serve as the force within the state to advance the cause of our first-in-the-nation primary.”
