House Speaker Steve Shurtleff and leaders with the State Employees Association condemned Gov. Chris Sununu’s bargaining team for proposing the cleaning crew at the Veterans Home in Tilton should have to work on Christmas Day.
Carolyn Bartlett said she’s been a housekeeper for the past five years and Christmas Day has been the only holiday her staff gets off each year.
“The state wanted to take away our time for Christmas, the one holiday we are not required to work. We had already made concessions to work weekends; we should not have to make another sacrifice,” Bartlett said.
