The Executive Council will be asked today to approve new Medicaid rates for residential drug addiction treatment services that nearly double what the state will pay to providers.

The state’s recent 10-year mental health plan emphasized the need to increase Medicaid reimbursement rates in New Hampshire, which are among the lowest in the nation.

The increased rates, if approved, could convince more providers to join the recently launched “hub-and-spoke” system for substance abuse treatment statewide.
