State lawmakers are considering a bill designed to protect people’s personal data, like DNA and fingerprints, so that they’re not used for purposes unbeknownst to the individual.

House Bill 536 is described as offering modern-day protections against people or entities looking to access information from DNA kits, facial or fingerprint recognition used to log into devices, sleep and exercise patterns recorded on exercise tracking devices and applications.
