Parks, welfare, opioid programs at risk under CR spending rules

State parks and historic sites could close, welfare checks would come up short and millions in federal grants to fight the opioid crisis could be lost under the current continuing resolution (CR) that is operating in the absence of a compromise two-year state budget.
To avoid major disruption to state government, the managers of 10 state programs across eight agencies are asking a legislative budget oversight panel for $77 million worth of additions or transfers of spending over benchmarks set forth in the CR.
