April unemployment in New Hampshire was the highest since records began to be kept in 1976: 16.3%.
The number of state residents without jobless was also a record, increasing six-fold in one month to 122,570.
The number reflects “the impact on unemployment due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic and efforts to contain it,” noted New Hampshire Employment Security in a press release.
