Walking away from one of the biggest political setbacks of his second term, Gov. Chris Sununu appealed to history.
“This body has a tradition going back literally hundreds of years, working in a nonpartisan manner … without political bias,” the governor said in a statement. “And today, the Executive Council has thrown that right out the window…”
It was Wednesday morning, and minutes earlier the five-member body had voted, 3-2, to tank Sununu’s nominee for the Supreme Court, Attorney General Gordon MacDonald. By Thursday morning, the governor had doubled down.
