A judge on Thursday will hear arguments regarding what lines of questioning — including the alleged victim’s possible criminality — may be pursued in the upcoming domestic-assault trial of former state senator Jeff Woodburn.

At the time of his arrest last August, Woodburn, 54, of Whitefield, was in his third two-year term as the state senator representing District 1 and was also the minority leader of the Senate Democratic caucus.

He has been charged with four counts of simple assault, two counts of domestic violence, two counts of criminal mischief and one count of criminal trespass. All of the charges are misdemeanors and Woodburn has pleaded not guilty to them.
