Three schools on the city’s West Side have some of the highest rates of teacher absenteeism in the city, according to a school-by-school breakdown of chronically absent teachers obtained by the New Hampshire Union Leader.
Sixty percent of Manchester High School West teachers were absent 10 or more times in the 2017-18 school year. At Parkside Middle School, 61 percent of teachers called in absent 10 or more days. And at Parker-Varney Elementary School, the rate was 51 percent.
