WHAT DO SHIPS, fish, and birds have in common with some plastic disks from Hooksett? The answer is as unlikely as the question: They all have crossed the Atlantic Ocean.
In 2011, a sewage treatment plant in Hooksett spilled millions of plastic disks into the Merrimack River. The disks — each about the size of a sand dollar — were swept up in the river’s current, and, for months afterwards, they washed ashore on beaches up and down the Seacoast.
