Time to raise the roof: GOP values and profligate spending

A topic of some interest these divisive days is the question of just what are “Republican values.” With so many in the GOP willing to chuck overboard principle in favor of political self-preservation, it is becoming a difficult question to answer.
Take the national debt ceiling, please. There was a time when sizable elements within the Republican Party actively and eloquently opposed an ever-expanding debt ceiling because of the damage that unlimited, unfunded spending does to the nation and future generations. (Trust us. There really was such a time.)
