It’s insane! A new gas tax of up to 17 cents per gallon and the money isn’t even guaranteed to stay in New Hampshire? That must be one of the most ridiculous policy ideas ever. The fact 12 other states are even considering adopting this Transportation Climate Initiative carbon tax scheme is baffling.
Why are they doing this? Because they know their big cities will benefit. Massachusetts needs to find more money to bail out the crumbling commuter rail system. Other states know they need to raise taxes to fund their big government programs. That’s where this money is going. It shouldn’t be any surprise that Massachusetts is the state leading this huge push from states that span from Virginia to Maine.
