Health news good and bad: Hot days, perplexing OD numbers

There was good news mixed with bad mixed with worse on several health and drug fronts this week. One bit of good news locally was the number of New Hampshire communities that are concerned enough about this weekend’s heat wave to make available cooling places for people without home air conditioning. (That’s also a good reminder to check on elderly neighbors.)

Red Sox color man Jerry Remy may have coined a fitting term for the combination of heat and humidity due here today. He said it would be “muggety,” meaning humid and muggy and enough to fog your glasses.
