Butt out, Mayor Pete: Let NH prevail on its own issues

Candidates in our first-in-the-nation presidential primary have plenty enough to say about solving all the nation’s problems but few of them can resist the temptation to tell New Hampshire what to do, too.
Take, for a recent example, “Mayor Pete,’’ aka South Bend, Ind., Mayor Pete Buttigieg. Despite serious problems in his home city, the mayor running for President felt compelled to opine on a state labor issue last week.
He is, he tweeted, deeply disappointed that Gov. Chris Sununu vetoed a so-called “prevailing wage” law that is both misnamed and needlessly expensive for state public works projects.
