A series of state Supreme Court cases in the 1990s established the state’s responsibility to fund education. These days, however, an adequate education is funded primarily by local property taxes, and rates vary from town to town.
District 2 Executive Councilor Andru Volinsky of Durham and attorney John Tobin of Manchester have traveled the state to talk about how education funding works, and what can be done to fix it.
