Stage set for Sununu budget veto; both sides seek compromise

A $13 billion state budget that adds millions in new spending on education, child protection, mental health and addiction recovery passed the House and Senate along party lines on Thursday without a single Republican vote in either chamber.
The 14-10 vote in the Senate and 209-144 vote in the House send the spending and revenue plan for the next two fiscal years to Republican Gov. Chris Sununu, who has his veto pen at the ready.
