Democrats are calling it the Granite State Jobs Act — a bill that would leverage public-private partnerships to recruit, train and re-employ workers in areas of high demand.

Republicans are calling it a raid on the state’s unemployment fund that would only duplicate existing job training efforts.

“Each week there are thousands of job openings in our state due to a gap in training opportunities,” said the bill’s lead sponsor, Sen. Kevin Cavanaugh, D-Manchester.
