Representatives of the tourism industry turned out in force to argue for a bill that would require school districts to delay the start of the school year until after Labor Day.

School officials and others argued strongly against the bill, SB65, which emerged from Gov. Sununu’s Save Our Summers initiative.

A high-powered commission appointed by Sununu to study the question issued its report in December, and failed to endorse moving the start of all public schools until after Labor Day.
