New Hampshire House and Senate budget negotiators agreed Wednesday to major increases in education funding on the heels of a court ruling last week that said the state is still failing to live up to its obligation to provide an adequate education to public school students.

While the agreement is expected to finalized Thursday, House and Senate conferees agreed to increase overall funding for K-12 education from $925 million to nearly $960 million in the fiscal year beginning on July 1 – and from $919 million to $1.02 billion in fiscal year 2021.
