City officials felt blindsided Thursday by the surprise appearance of Gov. Chris Sununu at a meeting to coordinate opioids response and then a subsequent press release.
Anna Thomas, the city’s City public health director, and Mayor Joyce Craig were to meet Health and Human Services Commissioner Jeff Meyers in Concord Thursday afternoon about how the state could help the spiraling drug crisis in Manchester. Already this year, there have been 407 overdoses in the city, according to American Medical Response data, 37 of those fatal.
