Lawmakers are pushing for retroactive state reimbursement for local wastewater projects this session, a 20 percent grant program for projects put on hold by a moratorium.
Several Seacoast legislators including state Rep. Renny Cushing, D-Hampton, and state Sen. Martha Fuller Clark, D-Portsmouth, are co-sponsoring a bill that would fund 20 percent of the cost for 70 projects around the state that have been approved since 2013. The projects include Portsmouth’s $92 million Peirce Island wastewater treatment plant upgrade, the $49.9 million wastewater treatment plant project in Exeter and the $4.9 million replacement of force main pipes that receive waste from Hampton’s vacation community at the beach.
