Portsmouth Regional Hospital will increase its involuntary inpatient bed count in the facility’s Behavioral Health Unit effective immediately, the hospital announced Monday.
The increase comes in response to New Hampshire’s growing need to address the number of patients in hospital emergency departments awaiting mental health treatment in a psychiatric setting, according to hospital officials. The additional beds are funded by the most recent state budget.
