Fire Chief Daniel Goonan is working on a plan to expand Safe Station services to people with drug addictions in anticipation of receiving $225,000 in state funds in each of the next two years. Safe Station didn’t get any of the $60-plus million the state received in federal funding to battle the opioid epidemic.
