Jeff Woodburn, the former state senator accused of assaulting his fianceƩ, has won the right to keep his attorney but at the cost of opening himself up to a possible charge of criminal contempt for disseminating an image from her cellphone that was later posted on social media.
In court documents, the state alleges that Woodburn, a Whitefield resident who served three terms in the Senate from District 1, bit and struck the woman who was his then-fianceƩ several times between August 2017 and June 2018 and that he also kicked in the locked door to her home and damaged an appliance.
