The mayor is vetoing a decision made by aldermen last week that provides additional payouts for unused sick time to select city employees.

“In Nashua we have many needs, including schools, police and fire and other services and improved infrastructure,” Mayor Jim Donchess said. “In addition, we want to keep our tax rate as low as possible. Given these considerations, I do not believe that the expanded severance plan is a good expenditure …”
