Jeff Woodburn, the former state senator from the North Country and a rising star in the state’s Democratic Party, has requested a jury trial to face charges arising from his alleged assault of a former domestic partner.
Woodburn, of Whitefield, was arrested last August on nine misdemeanors: four counts of simple assault, two counts of domestic violence, two counts of criminal mischief and one count of criminal trespass.
The state alleges that between August 2017 and June 2018, Woodburn bit a female adult on the hand and forearm; struck her in the face and stomach; and kicked in a locked door to her home.
