Municipal planners across the United States will need Solomon’s wisdom as they attempt to bring their sign ordinances into compliance with the U.S. Supreme Court ruling Reed v. Gilbert.
The Portsmouth City Council’s discussions regarding the regulation of signs, including political signs, must be seen in the context of this unanimous 2015 ruling, which found that sign ordinances must be “content neutral,” and regulate uniformly regardless of their message.
